Who am I? Just a conscience!
Introduce yourself
Hey, howdy, hey! The name's Kade, and I wished upon a star from The depths of google. Belle and I are so very eager to join the Worlds of Disney circle of life!
Character basics
Character name: Belle
Age: 20
Species: Human
Birthplace: France
Movie: Beauty and the Beast
Custom title: The Book Princess
Why'd you pick this character? Beauty and the beast is one of my favorite movies since the time of vhs. Out of all of the disney princesses, Belle is my top favorite princess for all that she does, from her love of books to being independent. She didn’t take any nonsense from Gaston and surely did the same for Beast.
Character appearance
Hair description: She has thick brown hair reaching past her shoulders, which she uses a blue ribbon to tie her hair back. Often when she does have it down though, her bangs are swept behind her ears.
Facial description/mood/expressions: She’s often accompanied with her optimism painted on her face. Any mention of a book will send her eyes alight with stars and her teeth grinning in joy. In rare times
Clothing style: Belle tries to keep it simple, with a blue dress and a white underdress with poofy sleeves. She also has walking shoes and a white apron to finish her outfit. During her stay at the Beast’s castle, she wore a variety of rich dresses. Her last time at the castle ended with Belle in an elegant gold dress with matching gloves and earrings. On her way back to the castle to warn Beast of Gaston’s mob, Belle wore a dark blue cloak over her simple clothes, minus the apron.
Body build: She is of average height and of average build. She has a slender body that can take her a good distance at times.
Any unique traits (optional): For being a mere human, she sure does have resiliency in the cold. And for being a mere human, she was able to carry the beast long enough to get him to her horse so easily.
Original character analysis I think Belle was alone not only as a kid, but as a young adult. After her mom’s death she may have withdrawn as she grieved someone she genuinely cared and loved. She probably found books after her death, and instantly was taken into a world away from the one she suffered in. Over time it turned from a coping mechanism into a hobby she genuinely loved. But Because of the time she spent reading, she didn’t have a balance between coping (and possibly grieving) and having a normal childhood filled with kids to be friends with and play with. I think that is part of her introverted personality and unable socialise with people in her village properly, save for the bookkeeper. I also think she also still retains her independent streak not just because of her mother but also her father. I can imagine maurice letting Belle read some schematics as he explained what they were and how they all functioned as one.
Personality:
For the most part, Belle is a warm and kind person. She may come off as being a bit timide, but only in part that she is so occupied reading her books. But if someone were to look past that and ask if the book is good, oh boy the floodgates will open. Belle is passionate about books and will share that with anyone willing to listen. She’ll like you if you listen and even more if you encourage her to go on.
However, she is willing to put these dreams on hold for the people she cares for. She did this especially for Maurice, her father and again for him when she had to save him from Beast. Bele is also inquisitive and independent. This helps Belle see past appearances and look deep within someone. Unfortunately, her inquisitive nature can get her into trouble especially when going into things she’s not supposed to.
However, if by some chance you’re acting up, Belle will not hesitate to call them out with strong points. She’s not gonna just wait and avoid the problem anymore like she did previously.
History:
Belle was born in love to Maurice and to her mother in a quiet village. Belle only knew of her mother through stories as a kind woman. These stories were all she had of her mother, as she had died when Belle was still young. Initially, she found books to be an escape, a means of passing the time. Yet this changed as Belle grew older. She found comfort, and they became her passion. A passion that was encouraged by the local bookstore owner and her own father.
Her father, an inventor, especially encouraged this. And so the two became known as the oddballs of the village. But Belle became known for another thing: her beauty. This was something she became aware of, everytime she arrived at the village. She became uncomfortable with this, especially when Gaston tried courting her. She didn’t understand why she was singled out, out of all the other pretty girls in the village? Why he never got the hint everytime she politely turned down his advances. Everytime she felt drained as she approached home, from having to use all her whits to come up with excuses and to maneuver him.
What exactly did the fool mean when he said to focus on important things? She couldn’t ask that, not even as she heard an explosion in the distance. Belle knew it meant one thing: another of her father’s failed experiments. It gave her an opportunity to leave at first chance. Whenever she saw her father with his failed experiments, her heart sank knowing he wanted to do so much good. So she didn’t give up, and helped him with his latest invention. When they did get it to work, Maurice went to a fair to prove it to everyone else. Belle said goodbye to her father.
Though just one day after he left, trouble began to brew. While reading, Belle heard a knock on her door. Upon checking, immediately she was disappointed. It was Gaston, and he was….well dressed for once? She made a mistake opening the door. He went on and on about her dreams, how he was going to make them true. She knows he knew nothing, given that he disapproved of books without pictures and stomped them into the mud. And it strengthened what she knew, even when he took his shoes off in her home.
Never had she felt such disgust when he spewed his plans for her in their marriage. To be his wife staying at home? She gently...gave him a push out the door, and returned him his boots after she declined his proposal. Ugh, the nerve of that man.
She wanted her adventure to leave this place and truly start her life far from here. Belle might’ve done so once her father came back. But instead of her father, Phillipe, their horse came back with his wagon, panicked. But no father. So she went where they went initially, and it led them to the castle.
It was dark inside the seemingly abandoned castle. Nothing that indicated life as Belle entered. Still she entered, and eventually found the prison cell which had her father. He begged her to leave the place while she still could. She didn’t understand why, but she knew he was sick. She had to do something, until a booming voice cut through grabbing her as the torch in her hands flew into the nearby. He called her father a trespasser and now his prisoner.
She refused to accept that. Instead she offered to take his place, on the disembodied voice’s word. But that wasn’t enough, she needed to see who it was she was making the deal with. And so, she asked the voice to come into the light and reveal himself. Slowly, the light revealed the beast. She would have screamed and tried to break her father out. But she couldn’t, but he promised to keep his word.
She accepted. But never had the chance to properly say goodbye as he was dragged to the outside. Things were...tense, especially when the beast forbade her from going into the west wing. And then he demanded her to join him for dinner. She refused, and was told to starve. Yes she was indeed his prisoner, but he had no right. But the servants trapped were kind to her, and fed her. That should’ve been enough to rely on them. But why the west wing? What was the beast hiding? Her curiosity got the best of Belle as she entered the wing. A ruined picture was among the things scattered and ripped apart as she looked around. But that rose? Her curiosity was cut harshly short by the beast.
Demanding her to leave, he roared at her, and some promises were meant to be broken, Belle ran from the castle on Phillipe. Into the cold where she hoped to return to the village in tears. Back to her father. The wolves found her first. Such horrid things she had only heard of in books.
She thought she was a goner, cornered by the fangs to be devoured in the cold. But then, the beast came to her aid. He fought them off, but endured wounds in the process. Belle could’ve left him there and run back to the village for good. But something changed. There had to be more to him, than just a raging beast. So the two returned to the castle. She tried to help him with his wounds, but it turned into more shouting. Though at that point with everything that had happened, Belle had enough. She called him out on his behavior. But she had to give him credit though, for even going back to save her life. That was the beginning of their time together.
And over time, she saw him change into something else. Someone kinder, as they spent the days at the castle together. She couldn’t describe the feeling she had. They clashed with her homesick on most days, though she tried to bury that thought. Until that night.
It was a wonderful night, where she dressed in her golds and him in his lapis. They danced in the elegant halls for who knows how long, and that fluttering in her heart became this swarm of warmth in her heart. She was realizing what it might’ve been that occupied Belle’s heart. But the love she had for her father caved in when she saw him in the mirror. She had to go back, and even though Beast promised her freedom, part of her had every intention of returning back.
For now her father was her concern. She found him in the snow, and carried him back to their home once again. Looking back now, she regretted taking him back, instead of taking him to the castle. But then, she was naive. She was so relieved to have seen her father again. It had been so long and so much had changed. But then...knocking. No one knew they had been home, had they?
For once she had enough of Gaston, and for the first time she called him the monster instead. She naively tried to show everyone the beast in the mirror. But she was interrupted. Belle’s voice was washed and overshadowed by Gaston who turned the crowd against her.
What had she done?
She rushed to the castle, pushing herself and Phillipe with everything she had, hoping she wasn’t too late. But suddenly, Belle found herself now in a place of alien modernity while running in the woods, towards the castle.

“I can’t just stay here,” She argued, wit crossed arms. Her eyebrows furrowed into a cross of stubbornness and in determination as she puffed her chest. “If Beast is out there, then I need to find him.”
She wouldn’t leave him alone again. There were many things she had left unsaid and unspoken regrets. And those regrets in particular were the ones she wanted to make up for. These things were part of her aftermath goals, and finding Beast was Belle’s primary goal. She still had to warn him of the danger that would unfold. "I left him once. I don't want to leave him again."
She cared for him, yes. She had that feeling buried deep down, and it was ready to erupt and come alive. But if beast was there, and Gaston was there too. She wasn't aware of the time's concept, nor did she know how long it had passed. So she had urgency in her stance, ready to leave when given direction. If it wasn't given, then she would take it on her terms.
