Welcome to Worlds of Disney!
We hope you enjoy your time here with us. Our members are passionate about role-playing as their favorite Disney characters. To maintain a safe and friendly environment for this odd but satisfying pastime, we need rules. So, here they are:
Be Courteous. Even if you disagree. No exceptions.
Keep Your Character In-Character You are choosing an established Disney character, so you must use them according to their personality as spelled out in their film. You can't turn a villain into a good guy, though villains do not have to be committing crimes every minute of every day. You can't dump your significant other for some other character. And although you can glean information from sources like comic books, movies trump all other sources.
No Mary Sues. Or Gary Sues. Or Gary Stus. Whatever you call them, this means that no character can be perfect. Everybody loses or fails some of the time. If, as a villain, you create a trap or plot for our heroes, there must be a way out. So don't be upset if things don't always go your character's way.
No God-Modding or Power Playing. This means you can't control any character but your own. You may write that Gaston aimed a kick at Lefou's backside, but it's up to Lefou if that kick connects. Unless you have telepathy, you can't read another character's thoughts, and you certainly can't decide what they do or how they react unless they are your own characters.
All Threads Are Past Tense. Yes, we're talking about grammar. We want your threads to be a pleasure to read, not a chore. So use past tense only for your verbs (saw, said, ran, NOT see, say, run). We also expect you to use punctuation, those funny little dots and squiggles that tell your reader when to pause, stop, etc. If you don't understand punctuation, check out this instruction thread.
Approved Characters You can use Disney and Pixar characters from 1927 to 2021, from animated films and short cartoons. Plus, many live-action films and parks characters are allowed. You may be allowed to add comic book characters as well. As for television, you can choose characters from DuckTales, Gummi Bears, Chip 'n Dale's Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, Bonkers, Darkwing Duck, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Aladdin the Series, Legend of Tarzan, Hercules the Series, Legend of the Three Caballeros, Gargoyles, Quack Pack, Mighty Ducks, Lilo and Stitch the Series, Tangled the Series, Big Hero 6 the Series, The Emperor's New School, Goof Troop, House of Mouse, Kim Possible, Little Mermaid the Series. If you think your favorite show deserves a place on this list, check with the admins.
No Studio Ghibli, Touchstone, Fox, Hollywood Pictures, Star Wars, Marvel, Muppets, even though some of these are owned by Disney.
Character Instructions We use the original versions of movies and characters ONLY. Whenever there are new versions made (live-action Mulan, reimagined DuckTales, Lightyear) they will NOT be allowed here. Please note that the characters in TaleSpin, though they have the same names as those in Jungle Book, are separate characters. Therefore, you can use Baloo the pilot or Baloo the bear.
If you choose a character who has been to the parks before but was deleted for inactivity, he or she does not remember anything from that other visit, so you are starting fresh. Other characters may remember you, but you have no obligation to live up to whatever was done with that character before.
Below are some other specific details you should know:
Your characters can never leave the parks. There is a mystic barrier of unspecified origin that prevents this, by land, sea, or air. Any currency your characters have on them is valid in the parks. If they get jobs, feel free to pay them in pesos or lira or shapoozies, whatever makes them comfortable.
Some characters may appear with certain unique objects or accessories. But if yours doesn't, don't fret; you can find nearly anything you want somewhere in the parks. Does Launchpad need a biplane? Head for Goofy's Barnstormer. Running low on Gummi Berry Juice? There are berry bushes growing in Fantasyland. And the prop room on the Backlot is a great place to find what you're looking for.
If you are unfamiliar with the parks and their layouts, don't worry. A quick online search will give you more than enough information to RP here. The parks are somewhat fluid: you may step into the Haunted Mansion to enjoy the ride today, and tomorrow it may be transformed into an actual haunted house. Most discontinued rides can also be found when they're wanted. And if you really need a popcorn wagon by the tree of Life or an x-ray machine in a first-aid station, then put one there, within reason. If you get too far off track, the admins will call for a rewrite.
All characters can miraculously speak and understand English when they arrive at the parks, EXCEPT for Tuck and Roll, as that is part of their schtick. If your character does not speak in his movie (Dopey, Gideon), he can't speak here. Non-talking animals (Meeko, Pluto) can speak to others of their species, along with other animals and certain humans who speak the languages of animals (Tarzan, Mowgli).
Your characters are not "toons," unless you choose Bonkers or one of his friends. The average character here is flesh and blood, though he may be able to do some toony things, like pull items from hammerspace or squash and stretch a little, if he does so in his film (Darkwing Duck, Goofy).
Fish characters are limited to the water areas of the park, but it can be assumed that all bodies of water, from fountains to lakes to pools, are connected with underwater tunnels. All Mermaids can get their "land legs" when dry, as per Pirates of the Caribbean and Luca.
If you want to choose a near-omnipotent character (Zeus, Hades), you must receive special permission from the admin. Used badly, such a character can easily ruin your fellow-members' threads.
Video game characters (TRON, Wreck-It Ralph) appear as life-sized photonic life forms. You can use Riley from Inside Out, but Anger, Sadness, etc. are part of her psyche and cannot live independently. 22 and similar characters from Soul are invisible and inaudible to most characters.
Characters from Toy Story are toy-sized. They are made of plastic, just like in the movies. However, characters from Buzz Lightyear of Star Command are real people and separate characters.
You may choose Grandmother Willow, but she is rooted to the ground and can never move.
If your character has more than one form (Beast, Pinocchio), you must choose the form you will use. You can't switch back and forth from human to puppet, so choose wisely.
NPCs You may create and play NPCs as needed (cast members, tourists, zoo animals). But this is not the place to create characters from scratch and RP them, so use NPCs sparingly. Our site is for established Disney characters.
Character Count You are allowed an unlimited number of characters, each with a separate account. Non-talking animals can be used with their owner's/master's account (Hercules & Pegasus/Basil & Toby) Characters who are virtually identical (Flotsam & Jetsam, Si & Am) can be used as one account.
Keeping Current You are expected to keep your threads and characters current by posting regularly. Threads that receive no posts during a quarter are subject to removal without warning and will be stored in the Graveyard section of the site. They can be restored on request.
If none of your characters has been logged in during a calendar month, your accounts may be deleted without warning. Apps for deleted characters will be stored in the Graveyard section and can be re-copied if you would like to re-apply for that character.
Characters may be held for two weeks; after that, if you have still not written an app, they are fair game for any member to take.
Word Count We have a 125 word count for each IC post. No one is going to count every single word in every post you make, but keep it close to this number. There is a word counter in the bottom right of the Create Thread form to make life easy.
This Is a Family Friendly Site Keep it clean; we want nothing to cause embarrassment to our readers. Imagine your Grandma reading your posts. This means no slash threads, no implied sex, and no profanity. You may use the word "Hell" only when talking about the place, as Maleficent does, and "jackass" when comparing someone to a donkey, as in Pinocchio. No taking God's name in vain; this includes the C-Box.
Admins Your Admins are Basil, Elsa, and Walt, though the Walt Disney account is seldom online and hard to get hold of. Just drop Basil a line for the fastest reply to your questions. Admins reserve the right to edit any and all posts without warning or explanation, and all decisions made by them are final.
Have Fun!
