The weather was fair today. Neither warm nor chilly, but fair enough that one need not wear a large sweater. Maid Marian wrapped her shawl tightly around her slim shoulders, there was a chill in the air that reminded her that winter loomed ahead of them, bearing its frosty teeth upon the world. She sighed, the world might soon find itself coated in a layer of light white and shining show. A soft smile played on her lips as she imagined the town square sparkling in the morning sun, the bright rays of sun sparkling off the snow. Ah, winter certainly is a beautiful season, cold, but beautiful. Maid Marian's eyes swept the square top to bottom. No one else appeared to be in sight. This was odd as it had a tendancy to be busy. Prehaps I just came during a quite time, she spectualted.
There was a nice little wooden bench up in front of her, she skipped over, sitting down and crossing her ankles in a lady like fashion. Her eyes were downcast and with a moment to think, he eyes began to well with tears. Thinking always brought her to the same topic: Robin Hood. He had been her childhood love and he would always hold a special place in her heart. "Why did I have to go to London and leave him?" she sobbed. It was, in her mind, the biggest mistake she had ever made. Leaving Robin Hood left her feeling alone and empty, the same feeling she had harboured since that fateful day she left her only love. "I'm such an idiot girl, leaving the one thing I ever wanted," she told herself.
Snap out of it Marian! Forget the past! A voice inside of her said harshly. She shook her head, she didn't want to forget, or snap out of it. For once in her life she wanted to cry her feelings to the world, she wanted to allow herself to bawl until her eyes were dry. But yet, she knew she couldn't, for crying would get her no where. It would be easy to sit here and feel sorry for her loss, but she couldn't, things just didn't work like that, life couldn't just be brought to you on a silver platter, you have to be tough, Robin would be tough... One last silver tear trickled down her cheek. She closed her eyes for a moment, her long, dark lashes covered in shining tears. She allowed herself to wish that when she opened her eyes, she would find some distraction from her pain, any distraction... any at all...
