Pooh had seen the mansion from afar and had wandered in its direction, through the open inviting gate and closer to the front door of the building. Glancing way up, he craned his neck so he could get a better look at the structure itself. Well it seemed friendly enough... maybe whoever owned it would be a nice sort of someone with a smackeral and a cozy bed to share. Moving forward he put his paw on the doorknob and turned it a little and without any further action the door seemed to swing open on its own.
“Hallooo in there!” Pooh called out, peeking inside. “Is there anybody home?” Taking a step in he glanced around at the eerie silence that seemed to answer him and swallowed hard. The place looked abandon, white sheets were covering furniture in rooms not too far off, the windows looked almost like they were boarded up... funny, they didn’t look that way from the outside.
“I... I said is there anybody at home?” he called out. “Anybody at all?” No answer and another little silence settled in, giving him a funny feeling that rose from the tips of his toes to the very end of his nose.
“Perhaps I should be going...” But as Pooh moved to turn around the door slammed shut and a loud clap of the thunder met his ears quickly followed by a flash of lightening. But there hadn’t been a storm outside! Panicking a little Pooh walked backwards until his back hit the door and he turned reaching for the knob, only to find it locked.
“Piglet! Eeyore! Help!” he cried and tried to pull with all his might. “Christopher Robin! Somebody!” He banged on the door and then covered his eyes as he heard the wind whistle loudly and he was knocked off his feet by an unseen force and sent crashing to the ground.
