The great brown bear chuckled lightly as she agreed with him that the fries did in fact taste good. He smiled back at her as she took a few more sips of water and wiped her mouth with her forearm. Being a bear, and more especially a boy, he didn’t care if she did that. It just appeared to him that she was more herself that way and Kenai was pleased to see that. He had always believed in being yourself, regardless of who you were around.
He said nothing as her small and dainty hand remained upon his shoulder. He rather enjoyed having someone touch him and not be afraid with the fact that he was a bear. Kenai would never hurt another soul, unless he was defending himself and as she stroked his thick fur a sense of peace washed over him. He closed his eyes and sighed in contentment and then listened quietly to her story of what he home looked like. He could imagine what it had looked like and it seemed like the exact opposite of his home. As both a human and a bear, he was constantly surrounded by trees and wildlife.
The bear let a small smile come to his lips as the word “village” hit his ears. Of course, he was sure that her village looked exceptionally different from what his looked like. From what he had head while walking about the park was that the home he lived in would be considered a bit primitive. Kenai paid it no mind, since he didn’t really comprehend what that word meant anyways. He chuckled lightly, “Well, now you know what bears look like.” His ears pinked with interest as she mentioned there was a place that looked similar to her home. He was curious to see what it had looked like, but his mind was set to a grinding halt as Mulan flopped onto him and rested her head on his stomach.
A kind smile and gentle eyes were set in her direction as she slowly drifted off to sleep. This was just like Koda all over again. Suddenly, he got a strange urge to gently lick at her hand in kindness. Bears didn’t usually show affection by licking their tongues, but Kenai thought he would scare her if he started to nuzzle her. Kenai could only imagine who Baba was as she mumbled, but from the way she said it, it was possible she was talking about her father. “Sleep Mulan. It’s been a long day.”
