charrie basics.[/ul]
age: 23
species: Chipmunk
birthplace: While the exact location is unclear and sources vary, it can be assumed that Chip lived with a rather small family far away from the city and neighborhoods before finally moving out on his own to be where the action was, and away from the commonday animals he was used to. Along the way he would befriend Dale, another chipmunk who had a home conveniantly placed in between a suburban neighborhood with other popular Disney mainstays, and the rest is history from adventure to adventure.
movie: To be specific, animated shorts seems like a more appropriate term; to name a few - Private Pluto. Working for Peanuts, Two Chips and a Miss, but their most well-known adventures happened to be those with the Rescue Rangers - dubbed, the Chip'n'Dale Rescue Rangers.
why: After playing the role of side-kick as Dr. David Q. Dawson, I decided to try a hand at being the leader in charge. Before his days as the leader of the Rescue Rangers, Chip and his fellow friend Dale were a team that could annoy even the toughest of enemies from their home - be it Pluto, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and so on. His character took a more in refined change when the animated series cartoon appeared, complete with a keen flight jacket and Indiana Jones fedora to match it; working with his team of co-horts like the inventive and creative Gadget Hackwrench, loyal funny goofball Dale, all around strongman and adventurer Monterey Jack, and the speedy Zipper, he'd help formulate a plan and hope to see it's execution on a larger scale. In relation to my previous character, Chip is the modern day detective who'se caught up with the times and even battled several more fantastical elements in comparison to the early century counterpart Basil. He plays the responsible leader of the agency in contrast to his other members' skills and personalities.

charrie appearance[/ul]
facial description/mood expressions: Growing up, Chip had rarely spoke. Most of his interactions were based on the wonder and amazement of the world around him and growing up protecting things like acorns, nuts, berries, and other items for his home. Some of which had also been from what he'd read about the city and neighborhood farther away from home - the people he'd meet and interact with, and using his own great friendships with squirrels and other animals at home. Being a good and outspoken, if a little stubborn, leader through various fun tasks with family and games he'd played before - it helped bring Chip into what we know of him today. Chip had been known be quite friendly, while often times mischevious, with his wide eyes emitting a very cute vibe bound to win the heart of many playing the part of it. These days, this chipmunk has swapped annoyance with bigger folk for lending a hand to when people need it, big or small. As he puts it, simply maturity. He can be quite annoyed with Dale's free-for-all random attitude and oddball manner with making decisions as a whole, and can even bare a sense of rivalry [as shown in their attempts to win the heart of Clarice or Gadget], and scorn. However, past has been set aside.
clothing style: The chipmunk wares a fedora, baring a color similar to that of Indiana Jones, which as explained had been given to him by his father before his move to the city abroad. It's an item he has long since kept with him without exception, as well as the jacket Dale had given him as a gift. Chip prefers these two items and them only; being a fairly skilled pianist, the chipmunk used to tend to the Acorn Club, where instead of wearing nothing at all [which he had done most of his life] for a finely pressed tuxedo, big white bowtie, top hat, and cane to boot. Some variants have included a smaller, yellow bowtie and a red rose on the side of it all. In one mission, Chip had to dress up in drag on one occasion, citing it as the only time, and hopefully only time, he'd have to do it.
body build: Chip remains a fairly capable individual chipmunk; he can run, slide, jump, and make good use of his surroundings as adventure is an everyday routine for him - he'd come to know very much the likes of putting up with Donald Duck's bad attitude over the years, to Pluto the dog's hunting sense, and his various enemies as being apart of the Rescue Ranger team. He's not as energetic and hasty like his partner Dale, but is more or less able-bodied for the task and never gives up. He certainly isn't strong for his size, but the ability to adapt has allowed him to get by from situation to situation.
any unique traits (optional) : The chipmunk, as mentioned, is good with the piano. In his teens, he began to practice it by watching one of the Huey, Dewie, and Louie trio during a session with a teacher. Finally being able to find one of his own, Chip used his knowledge and built it to land a job at the Acorn Club. He worked there for some time. Chip is able to formulate strategies as best he can, with also the good use of Gadget's inquisitive mind and putting it all to work with Monty, Dale, and Zipper. Without this glue to keep the group together, it'd be any wonder how the Rescue Rangers might have gotten off ground in the first place!

original charrie analysis.[/ul]
Chip is a fun-loving and charismatic chipmunk, with an imagination that loves to run wild at the thought of taking up new cases each time they happen upon one in the Rescue Rangers group. All of those years of reading those mystery novels has clearly pumped him up for the task of being the leader of the group, sometimes getting around his head too much to the point he considers himself the final decision maker... but he is good-natured despite this. He can be friendly, and passionate about he mystery or crime afoot, and is eager to bring others along provided they don't get hurt.
history:
Chip had spent a very modest living, being born to parents Hannah Chipmunk and Steven in the outskirts of an open park near Burbank, California. Right from the start, he had found himself more adept to spending his time playing around and goofing off with the other animals of the area - he was certainly a lively little chipmunk at a young age. Most of the games he had played revolved around tag, or playing makeshift versions of everyday sports, and getting involved. He had become popular enough to eventually earn a spot as being one of the most well-sought after players around the area during a chipmunks-versus-squirrels baseball game when he was only 11. Growing up in the open spaces and places had it's upsides and downsides, however, as he became a bit bored with having often nothing to do and so big a playing field to enjoy - that he took up reading and eventually discovered the likes of those Sureluck Jones mystery novels. That, and of course, hearing talks of how life is much greener in the city abroad - the big buildings, the people he'd meet that were famous like Mickey Mouse and Goofy the Dog, Chip began to have a fascination with wanting to move out.
At the age of 16, Chip still retained a very happy-go-lucky attitude and playful one at that. However, his goals had begun to form and eventually he came to the conclusion that he'd want to move. There were places like the Acorn Club there, who's ad happened to be passed around to his home around this time, which only fueled his anticipation. When the time finally came, Chip made the announcement to his family and his friends that he was going to pack up and begin the move - he'll miss them, and hopefully, with proper time and care he would visit someday with many a story to tell. Here, he had been given his father's cute little fedora as a parting gift; it was too big for him in size, but when he got older, he'd be able to wear it like he does now. Smiling broadly, Chip was off.
Finding a home was not easy, and the city was nothing to sneeze at. The weather was pretty brutal the first time around - and getting from place to place was perhaps very daunting for the little chipmunk. The famous actors and actresses at the time often seemed too different up close than they he heard of them via rumors amongst his old friends. Trees were already occupied by animated cartoon stars of their own as well, and even living underground was trivial, at best. Chip chose not to give up though - it had taken him quite some time to get there, and he didn't want to live this down. With his chin held up high, the chipmunk finally had his hopes brought into the light by meeting a young female by the name of Clarice who helped him get into the Acorn Club's membership. At first, his time there had been nothing short of working out small jobs and keeping the place in tip-top shape for the animals of the city that attended there. Clarice showed him the in's and out's of how it was all run and put together, which he adapted to quickly.
One day, when serving attendance and getting used to the city life at the moment, another young chipmunk came into the club. He had been here for awhile; not thinking that he'd become friends with Chip right off the bat, the two hit it off very well after finding out they had a lot in common with each other [at least, during their early ages]. Dale would be the first to provide a proper home for him near a suburb area downtown which was a fairly large oak tree situated in between Donald Duck's homestead and several other known Disney cast-members. Because Dale had been known to cause the frequently temper-prone duck a lot of problems, he reasoned that, the two heads more the better - and it'd be a lot more fun to amusingly play with the duck with a companion and make life more fun as a whole. Chip willingly accepted.
The initial moving in had been as easy as pie, for differences were very few at this point, and together the two built off of a friendship that would span for many years. Over time, the two had become frequent neusances not just with Donald, but those they happened to be with at the time - however, to say they had been the bulk of the problems is false. In the case of Donald, he had usually been the instigator of many of their famous scuffles together; most of the time the two chipmunks had a well-meaning attempt to stock up their load for the seasons and get by as best they could without having an issue. Along with Donald, soon came the likes of other well-known names who had been apart of their little adventures in the neighborhood. Them being known names in the Disneyverse only kept their antics going, often unknowingly or unintentionally, leading to some rather comical adventures as time progressed. Through it all, Dale and Chip worked together and eventually exchanged gifts one Christmas morning which further cemented their friendship - leading to Dale getting his trademark Hawaiian shirt and Chip getting his flight jacket.
When he turned 21, Chip introduced Dale to his Sureluck Jones books. The concept of the Rescue Rangers and how it came to be is disputable, even if you've asked them, but one theory suggests that it wasn't so much the books themselves that brought them to form it [Dale admits the books have been slow and prodding, even to him] but when Dale said it'd be time to get a bigger job. Chip, who was still with the Acorn Club at the time being and by now had taken his cue into learning the basics of the piano, wasn't sure what he had meant. So far they've been all over the city to know a lot about it, so certainly he wasn't sure what he had meant by getting a 'bigger' job. In Dale's eyes, merely ticking off the neighbors or scurrying around from place to place looking for trouble simply wasn't good enough. They were still young, and the world was much bigger than the city itself.
Chip suggested forming a detective's agency in the manner of Jones, his hero, and Dale had dismissed it. After a few unsuccessful attempts at acting and making it big in Hollywood, they tried everything from being night-guards or selling artwork of their own to make a name for themselves rather than two everyday chipmunks with a lot of free time on their hands. Finally, at Chip's persistence - they decided to form a fairly quaint detective's business, with such duties as the two of them taking calls from missing food to small items like Chip's fedora [later found to have been stolen by a mischevious mouse who had been trying and failing to win Clarice's affections]. It was fairly slow at first and difficult, particularly in getting along together in trying to solve a mystery given their own styles, with Chip being the straightforward and careful observer much like a true detective - with Dale making up the 'rules' as he went along.
However, it didn't take long for their first real case to come about, when someone had kidnapped Clarice. A large and bulky man of questionable nature happened upon her singing as he was passing by the same location the Acorn Club happened to be near, and had fooled her into thinking he was an agent with the likes of many notable stars. When she had gone missing for a week, Chip and Dale got onto the case as quickly as possible. With some considerable effort, they had managed to rescue her in the nick of time while also exposing he phoney agent for who he truly was - and saved the day once the police came in! Their reputation building up now, it wouldn't be long before their agency was now gaining a strong following, much moreso than it had ever been before. In time, soon enough, the likes of Gadget Hackwrench, Monterey 'Monty' Jack, and Zipper, would eventually join the group one by one... and the rest, as they say, is history.
ambitions:
+ As a young chipmunk, Chip's previous ambitions were to have one or more trees full of goodies - more than any other chipmunk he has ever known. The feelings are the same with Dale, though they've worked out success together.
+ On a personal level, the chipmunk's relationship life has completely been tossed between his feelings for Clarice Chipmunk [who he has not seen for quite some time since forming the Rescue Rangers] to that of Gadget Hackwrench. At the moment, it's merely professional between the latter, with the former being one he's been in search of for some time now.
+ Chip has often considered a solo career and at some point, has had some success, but often finds himself feeling most at ease with his own group.
strengths && abilities:
+ Able to formulate plans and guide his team-members through it in coming up with a solution to get it carried out.
+ "Keep moving forward" is his motto; if at first you don't succeed, try and try again!
+ Lively; even for being small, Chip has no problems getting involved in the heat of the action whenever necessary.
+ Good relationships with his peers; a leader, and a friend.
flaws:
- Stubborn. Will provide conflict with ideas that seem perhaps too dangerous even for him or if they don't make sense; in some cases, Gadget's many invention concepts and their results.
- Easily competitive; takes things critical should someone should ever step over his shadow or get the best of him - Dale, or anyone of Chip's nature as leader.
- Often labeled as someone who doesn't get around much, or knows how to have fun anymore like he used to. Chip has taken his role in the Rescue Rangers a bit serious to some extent; not in a choking manner, but enough to make him the brunt of a few jokes now and then when it's become evident.
likes:
+ Crime and mystery stories, most notably those of Sureluck Jones.
+ Acorns, nuts, berries, and other delicious food.
+ The thrill of adventure! Can't help himself on wanting to go out and do something rather than be cooped up at home.
+ He considers Dale and Gadget to be his best friends amongst the group; former for a longstanding friendship, the other for her quick-thinking and planing like his own.
+ Getting down to business; not one to take any situation lightly.
dislikes:
- Donald Duck. Although no hard feelings, Don's temper has certainly been etched into memory over the years as being a problem.
- Some, if not all, of Gadget's inventions; some vary from the simple and creative - others with a good margin of being unsafe and quite risky to use in the first place.
- Dale's sense of humor; certainly Dale's not the leader who could take Chip's place if he left.
fears:
- The overall fear of not being wanted, or being replaced by someone else for the group; someone more relaxed than he is regarding missions.
- A loss of either one of his friends, the Rescue Rangers, over the result of a mission. [i.e. harmful attacks, etc.]
- Losing to Fat Cat, or any Rescue Rangers villain.
what makes this character unique:
Chip's certainly been around the bush for quite some time in Disney history. While not old, he's certainly been through his fair share of the unusual to the wild - from a simple chipmunk with everyday needs and handling things with the human or neighborhood populace, to bringing down enemies with goals which have varied from forming soda pop cults, shrinking and resizing automobiles for profit, to fending of witches or other more powerful means of being a threat. Thankfully, still being rather young for himself, he has a long way to go before finally retiring it all and putting it to rest.
RP SAMPLE: ----
The chipmunk let out a small groan as he observed the machine in front of him; it looked thoroughly complicated - like a toy remote control car that had been stripped of it's bare essentials on the inside and made to fit like any modern human-sized automobile. The chairs had been conveniently replaced with small little leather cushions that had taken quite some time to put together and stitch on his and Gadget's part, and thoroughly wrought pieces of string to serve as seatbelts. For now, she had mentioned that they were going to be replaced in hopes of finding better material. He couldn't blame her beyond a shadow of a doubt, because they looked more like rope that'd squeeze the life out of them should something happen. It was one flaw he quickly deduced out of her plan, and shook his head when she prompted him to get inside to join her.
The chipmunk collapsed onto the passenger's seat. Without a sunroof or actual doors, climbing the large tanker of a car toy someone had left behind proved to be as amusing as climbing up a large boulder with rocky edges; he had to press himself aboard surprisingly gigantic wheels with small spikes to hop aboard. Chip sighed with relief - it certainly had a lovely inside view all around. By the looks of things, every last bit of wire had been re-arranged and hotwired upon many close tests and examinations to make sure it didn't need to rely on the remote control anymore. If she said it could work, he believed her. Now all they needed to do is see if it could work. For some time, during a lengthy absence of cases in general, she had been hard at work on this - only calling upon Monty, Dale, and Chip sporatically for assistance in clearing everything out little by little. There had been some debate as to whether she had been attempting to make a rocketship, but this seemed even better!
The car looked like a speed demon - a large fender in the back and an exaggerated form of those infamous monster trucks. Gadget made it one of her pet projects to give them something to handle rough terrain, and in the event of being toppled over, utilize some padding and bumpers to bounce them back up again. It all seemed so impossible, to him, all the complicated mathematics and engineering required for it.
"The weather doesn't really look too good today for a drive, Gadget!" Chip insisted. As proud as he was to be able to try this behemoth of an invention, it seemed a bit too crude to go out if a storm was brewing. Right from the start of getting comfy on the chairs, the seatbelts weren't tightfasted enough to hold him in. And of course was the chance anyone would want to pluck up and take their car out for a joyride of one of it's own. "What if it rains? The mud? The concrete? We can't see a thing unless one of us climbs up--?!"
True. There was no real way of seeing anything directly in front except for a small map she had kept in between the driver's seat which served as their own makeshift GPS system. What Chip had failed to realize, however, as his mind wondered and face looked around hesistently from up top, was the surveying booth she had also screwed in for Zipper to keep an eye out for where to go.
"Oh," he replied once he figured that out, not waiting for Gadget to answer. Apparently, all of the goods were in their seats - a button for speed, a tight steering wheel, among other things. "Well.... w-well, then, I stand corrected."
He looked into her eyes with a smile. This may have been her best invention yet, although considerably risky.
