Belle, dressed in her simple blue dress, was hunched over a book in the dining room of the castle, they called it Cinderella's Royal Table, but in fact there were multiple tables filled with common people and Cinderella, (or the lady dressed as her,) stood at the front to greet people like a maître d’.
"Quand Eros s'était endormi, elle est silencieusement montée et le dévoilement de sa lampe a vu pas un monstre hideux, mais le plus bel et charmant de Dieux, avec ses frisettes d'or se promenant sur son cou enneigé et joue cramoisie, avec deux ailes couvertes de rosée sur ses épaules, plus blanches que la neige et avec les plumes brillantes comme les fleurs tendres de printemps..." Belle was murmuring her favorite part out loud, she felt a tap on her shoulder and looked up to see one of the employees.
"Hey Belle honey, your friends are leaving and we're shutting up for the night," the young man gestured over to where there was a gathering of young women, Belle looked over at the impostors (well rather actresses, she'd been startled to see herself once, but the woman had been much taller and had the most annoying voice.)
"Just a few more minutes, Monsieur, I am almost at the end, this is the best part when Psyche realizes her husband is the God Eros..."
The man, whose who wearing a tage on his chest that read Steve, rolled his eyes as he interrupted, "I think you mean Cupid, geeze, who reads that story for fun? Worst part of my high school history was reading those things, and finding out where the fairy-tales that came from it later. Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast..."
Belle's head snapped up at that reference with a raised brow in shock, as the man rested his hands on top of his broom handle.
"...although that was helpful getting the job here, pfff," he waved his left hand dismissively and went back to his sweeping.
Belle shook her head and went back to her favorite book, becoming lost in the pages as she read of Psyche's many trials to win back the favor of Aphrodite, of Eros kindness in stirring up ants and the sea God to help her.
Just as she was nearing the end when Zeus would give permission for the two lovers to wed, there was a loud boom as suddenly all the lights were off, Belle let out a startled cry and brought her book to her chest as it happened.
Blinking and calming herself down, Belle's eyes adjusted to the dimness and she stood up, "Hello? Monsieur Steve? Actresses? Anyone?" Belle pushed back her chair and stepped over to the window.
Looking down she saw that people were leaving very quickly, oh dear, was she stuck in here? Belle pulled her arms around her, looking around, it was just like the first night in her castle home, when it had been cursed.
But at least there had been many people...well enchanted objects, to comfort her and Adam had been there too, Belle placed her book back in its basket.
"Oh well, might as well do a bit of exploring," she resigned, carefully feeling her way around the dining hall to find the exit.
