why:
[/ul]Duchess is a very sweet character who reminds me that the necessity of good manners and class don't stand in the way of enjoying life and having fun. I have always loved her since I was a little girl because she was one of the few characters who emphasized this and I admire it. She has a marvelous way of going about doing things and acts as a wonderful role model for her three kittens. Plus, her voice (singing and speaking) sounds very beautiful and angelic.[/ul][/size]

history:
Duchess was born into the Parisian world of propriety. She came from a litter of 4 kittens and a purebred family with generations of aristocats. She was adopted as a kitten by the wealthy opera singer, Madame Adelaide Bonfamille. Madame was kind to Duchess and treated her much like a sister. When she was old enough, Duchess was bred with another aristocat and eventually gave birth to a litter of three adorable kittens. They are Marie, the sweet, romantic white-furred young lady, Berlioz, the black-furred musician, and Toulouse, the ginger artistic alley cat wanna-be. They shared Madame's mansion with Madame herself, the butler Edgar Balthazar, the carriage horse Frou Frou, and the friendly mouse Roquefort.
The aging Madame requested that Duchess and her kittens inherit Madame's massive fortune after she passes, but Edgar, who would inherit after the cats, decided that he would take matters into his own hands and catnapped Duchess and her kittens in the middle of the night. Duchess and her kittens were left, cold and wet, under a bridge in the middle of the French countryside with no possible way of knowing how to get back home. When the morning came, so did Mr. Thomas O'Malley, the alley cat. Mr. O'Malley was stunned by Duchess's beauty and agreed to guide her and her kittens back to Paris. Along the way, the five experienced several dangers and joys and met many others. Duchess found herself gradually falling in love with Mr. O'Malley. When they returned home, Edgar was sent to Timbuktu and Mr. O'Malley was welcomed as a new addition to the family. She now is hostess to all the alley cats in Paris, who come to the mansion and "swing it!"

RP SAMPLE: ----
[/ul](from another site) The house was empty - Felicia must have been out. Otho set Felix down on the floor and lit a lamp. Then he sat down in his father's great chair and watched his son. How could he have not seen the signs? Looking back now, they were as clear as day. How could he have missed them? Otho wondered what his father was thinking so many years ago when he sat in the very same chair and watched his own son's magical ability blossom. But that was different. So very different. Felix found a chair and stood himself up. He tried hard to walk, but the lame leg simply collapsed beneath the toddler's pressure. The poor boy couldn't even hobble two steps. Was his son's disability so blinding that he couldn't even see the power? Such astounding, crisp, abounding power? He would need training - that was obvious, and Otho certainly couldn't give it. With a vampire on the loose and a city on the brink of panic, Otho knew his healing skills will be desperately needed in the days ahead. But such power...Otho had never felt anything like it before. It was hard to say, but....yes, his son, his small, smiling, happy-go-lucky son, was the most powerful magic user Otho had ever encountered. Otho had known both his family and Felicia's had strong magical backgrounds - Otho himself was the most powerful healer in half of Ophiuchus - but nothing close to the strength he felt from his son. Otho thought about Foulkes, the non-magic user who experienced the magic surge from Felix. He had felt the power during the surge too. That surge was enough to kill or, more likely, to change Foulkes at the core of his being. Otho wished he could have stayed to see how the captain recovered, if he did recover, but he had to get Felix out of there. Who knows what would have happened if Felix had sent that strength into a non-magic user directly? He shuddered at the thought.
