charrie appearance[/ul]
facial description/mood expressions:
Pretty, pale European features, large brown eyes, hopeful, dreamy and strong.
Belle is an intellectual so she can wear a very cynical expressions, but her smile is a gift and when she does smile it is sincere and real expression of joy and happiness.
Her moods are mostly of strong determination or tender gentleness, when she is happy, like I mentioned before, she is truly, sincerely happy and you can tell by the sweet tone of her voice and her smile.
clothing style:
French provincial blue dress:
Belle wears this dress in the beginning of the story, we can assume that this is her everyday dress, it's made from simple cotton and linen as most provincial dresses of the time were. It is also in two pieces, the cotton undershirt and the blue pinafore/apron over dress. Her hair is held back in a ponytail with a simple blue ribbon.
Green Dress:
Belle wears this green dress when Beast gives her the castle library as a gift. It's similar to the previous pink dress, but instead of open sleeves it has full length sheer sleeves which have a cute little satin puff at the top. It has a darker green velvet bodice with detail and a satin skirt. Belle's hair is held back in a ponytail with a green satin ribbon.
Pink Dress:
This the first dress Belle is given to wear while a prisoner/guest in the Beast's castle, although she refused to wear it the first time it is offered to her by the wardrobe. It's pretty and stylish, the bodice looks like velvet and skirt appears to be made from expensive satin. While the hemming and the detail around the neck and sleeves appears to be chiffon. She wears this with a red velvet cloak hemmed with white fur when feeding the birds outside the castle with the Beast. Her hair is held back in a ponytail with a pink satin ribbon.
18th century style gold ball gown:
Perhaps the most beautiful dress Disney artists ever created, Belle's golden yellow satin ball gown is a marvelous example of the fashion before the French Revolution/Regency period.
The bodice is fitted and the wide skirt is made of folded satin with a looped detail mid-way down the skirt, many petticoats underneath give the dress a perfect, sweeping fullness.
With a low cut bust line and scalloped off the shoulder sleeves, it is as innocently alluring as it is perfect for a royal ball and romantic dancing with a Prince. Her hair is half-up in a bun held with a gold band.
Christmas Dress:
This is the dress Belle wears in the sequel/prequel Belle's Enchanted Christmas, made of red satin and white chiffon it is a sweeping dress typical of the period post-French Revolution pre Regency. Belle looks every inch the Princess here and her dress is detailed with roses, a simple pearl necklace, (perhaps the same pearl necklace from her wedding day?) Is around her neck and her hair is held back in her customary ponytail with a red satin ribbon.
body build:Slender and petite
any unique traits (optional): Wise, bookish, tender and not afraid to speak her mind.

original charrie analysis. (everything must be in your own words! please be thorough, about 2 sentences)[/ul]
history:
Belle was born sometime in the 18th century, (perhaps around 1772,) a brief glimpse of her is seen during the movie of the Hunchback of Notre Dame, so her birthplace might have been Paris. We don't know if her mother died giving birth to her or sometime after.
During Belle's mid teens her father Maurice moved them to a small, provincial village in Southern France, Belle found her only solace in the small book store. The rest of villagers regarded her as strange, but beautiful, and her beauty attracted the unwelcome attention of the local heart-throb, Gaston.
Rejecting Gaston's eventual proposition of marriage, Belle longed for much more then her provincial existence, her world was shattered when her father's horse, Phillipe, returned home without Maurice, who had left for a Science fair.
Getting Phillipe to retrace his steps back to where Maurice had disappeared, Belle was taken to a looming, Gothic castle hidden in a dark Forrest. Frightened but determined, Belle entered the castle looking for her father, whom she found in a prison cell in a tower.
Her father was sick and cold, Belle tried to comfort Maurice and demanded to know whom had imprisoned him, at that moment the master of the castle appeared. A beast.
Belle begged for her father's freedom, the Beast snarled a rejection to her pleas, then the girl bravely stepped forward and offered herself in her father's place. The Beast was surprised and readily agreed when Belle promised to stay forever.
Maurice was expelled from the castle and Belle spent the next six months a prisoner in the enchanted castle, she had trouble with the Beast and ran away. But returned when the Beast was injured protecting her from wolves.
The friendly servants warmed Belle's heart and she began to see something much more to their Master, something kind, gentle and sweetly uncertain about the Beast.
After a beautiful dinner and dance the Beast organized for them, Belle expressed a wish to see her father, upon discovering Maurice was lost searching for her. Beast selflessly offered Belle her freedom and the magic mirror, Belle left, galloping away on Phillipe she heard the Beast howl in pain.
Returning home with her father, the villagers had gathered to take Maurice to a mad house, Belle proved her father's rants weren't madness when she showed the villagers the Beast using the magic mirror.
The villagers went to the Beast's castle with flaming torches and weapons to kill him, Belle and her father were locked up but manged to get free with the help of the tea-cup Chip.
Racing to the castle, Belle saw the Beast engaged in a fight with Gaston, but he was beaten, she cried out in horror and the Beast came to and held Gaston over the edge of the castle. He let him go out of pity when the man begged for his life.
Belle had rushed into the castle and had reached the balcony, calling out for the Beast, he reacted and climbed up to her, they held hands and he stroked her hair. All of a sudden the Beast howled, Gaston had stabbed him, Belle pulled the Beast to safety as Gaston fell.
The Beast was dying and Belle finally realized that she loved him and spoke the words out loud as the Beast breathed his last. All of a sudden the Beast was lifted into the air, surrounded by glittering lights and Belle watched in shock and fear as the Beastly appearance melted away, leaving behind a handsome man.
As the man was lowered to the ground, he got to his feet and spun around, Belle hesitantly stepped back as the man smiled and grabbed her hand, "it's me," he said simply.
Belle recognized that voice, vaguely, like a dream she lifted her hand to brush his hair, the man's intense blue eyes looked with concern at her and Belle beamed. It was the Beast.
"It is you!" She realized, the young man pulled her into a kiss sending fireworks and lights which turned the enchanted castle back to it's former glory and all the servants back to human again.
Belle was reintroduced to the Beast and he told her real name was Prince Adam, and they were quickly engaged and then married.
Princess Belle continues to live happily with her husband Prince Adam and they do occasionally still have their loud arguments, but it's mostly in fun.
ambitions: Adventure in the great wide world, to get through every book in the castle's library, teach Adam better table manners...well better manners in just about everything.
strengths && abilities:Wise and kind, bold and brave, able to ride horses and can see the best in people.
flaws: Stubborn, dreamy and ambitious (if a little ambition is a flaw.)
likes: Her husband Prince Adam, her beloved father Maurice, the castle servants, reading, children and animals.
dislikes: Bossy people, pig-headed people, vain people and anyone who tries to hurt and kill.
fears: Not seeing her father again, Adam/Beast's temper (sometimes.)
what makes this character unique: Belle is unique because she is the first Disney Princess to not be fawning over any man. Adam falls in love with her for her personality, not for how she looks, Belle encourages everyone to not judge books by their covers.
Her personality is well developed and multifaceted, Belle is an independent girl and her beauty does not dictate whom she is. The most important thing in her life is at first her father, so we know she cares deeply about family, however she still longs to be far away from everything and everyone. When she bravely offers herself in exchange for her father Belle hadn't even gotten a good look at the Beast.
But even when she does, the girl hesitates only briefly and sticks to her word, Belle has conviction and honesty, which is the first thing the Beast/Adam is attracted to. He has never met a girl/woman whom was not afraid of him, even when he was a child before the transformation.
Belle has determination and dedication, even when her freedom is there when the Beast has been attacked by the wolves, she turns around to help him and returns to the castle. When the Beast yells at her, Belle yells right back, again Adam/Beast has realized this is no fawning girl, this is a strong woman who is going to keep her word.
I think this spoke a lot about how women's place in society would change dramatically over the next two hundred years. This story is set in the 18th century, but Belle is the modern woman we all aspire to be most like, well read, wise, dedicated, truthful and brave.
RP SAMPLE:
Belle clutched the book to her chest, finally, finally, she thought, the young Princess had been trying to get hold of this book for months. Now finally all was quiet, all her tasks and chores were taken care of. It was time to curl up in a cosy corner somewhere, open up the book and...
"Belle? Belle?!"
The Princess sighed and tucked the book back in it's place on the shelf, someone was calling her and it sounded urgent, Evelina had to wait a little while.
Getting to her slippered covered feet, Belle tightened the gold and red cord of her green satin dressing gown around her waist, and walked over to the closed door. Pulling the heavy wooden door open and sticking her head out, Belle looked up at the huge blue eyes staring back down at her with an annoyed expression.
"Adam? What are you yelling about my love?" Belle asked, tossing a portion of her loose hair back over her shoulder.
The handsome, tall Prince was still in his breeches, boots and open necked white shirt, even at this late hour, and his reddish-blond hair was falling out of it's ponytail.
Hands clasped behind his back, Prince Adam tried to look a little more dignified and tucked a strand of his hair back into the satin ribbon, "Belle, I need you to rescue me again."
The Princess raised her eyebrow in amusement, "rescue you Adam?" She folded her arms across her chest and smiled to herself, "from what?"
Sheepishly the Prince scratched his cheek, "oh um... paperwork?" He smiled winningly at his wife, Belle's brown eyes almost managed to roll all the way into the back of her head.
"Do you deserve to be rescued?" Belle teasingly questioned, leaning against the door-frame, at that moment an annoying British accented voice could be heard echoing down the hall...oh I see...she thought
"Your highness, you haven't signed all the petitions for St Matthew's day off for the money lenders! Sir? Where are you?"
Adam knelt on the ground pleadingly, "please, please hide me," he grabbed her around the knees like a child, Belle pretended to think as Adam's head lent against her waist.
"Alright you," the Princess pulled her much taller husband to his feet, "in here," she grabbed Adam's hand and pulled him inside the library. Escorting him over to one of the pillars, Belle found herself pulled into her husbands arms and a kiss placed on her lips.
"I love you, I love you, I love you," Adam repeated happily, pulling her close into an embrace, "I was at that paperwork for seven hours straight. St Joseph's day off for the carpenters, St Lawrence's day off for the cooks and chefs..."
Belle placed a finger on his lips as footsteps were heard outside the library door and swift knocking on the doors, "shh, I know, I know, this was the first quiet moment I've had since before our wedding day." She kissed the tip of his nose, "wait here."
Stepping out from behind the pillar Belle slowly walked over to the door and opened it up, the portly Cogsworth was standing there and he bowed politely. "Your highness, have you seen Prince Adam at all?"
Belle, easily a consummate actress, put a mask of surprise across her face, "why no Cogsworth, why don't you try searching the gardens, you know how my husband likes to tend the roses," she said swiftly. That should keep him busy.
Cogsworth rubbed his thin mustache, "why yes, of course, excellent suggestion Princess Belle, yes, yes, thank-you," he walked away quickly, "Lumiere! Lumiere, check the gardens..."
Belle felt a pair of strong hands around her waist pull her back into the library, giggling she fell back into her husbands arms. Both of them laughing at the sound of Cogsworth calling out for an army of servants to try and find Adam in the garden.
Stolen moments like these were few and far between, something was always around the corner to interrupt them.
Little did Belle know she was right, something was indeed approaching the castle at top speed, a messenger carrying grave news.
