Since I, more then a lot of people, know that muse can be HARD to keep up, I decided to start a thread to help with that.
What do you do when you take a character, and then you have no idea how to play them in all of these new scenarios? We know what happens: muse slackens, you dread posting with them, and, when you do, the posts are dull and uninspired.
Then you try all of the pre-approved and -acknowledged tips.
1) Watch the movie/movies again.
2) Read fanfiction.
3) FORCE the posts out, hoping you get past it.
An idea I might suggest is plotting. Put your character in a plot that they're more comfortable with; something that maybe happens in their movie, so that you can gauge their reaction off of that and ease into playing them.
Example: Helga. I was having trouble with her, so I stuck her with Gaston, who she felt superior to (something we're used to seeing in the movie, as she's the second in command) and thought was dumb (something she also does in the movie; see her scene with Cookie). It was also extremely entertaining to see her stuck in an elevator with someone who she couldn't stand. Get involved in things that will make you really EXCITED to play the character, not things that make you feel like you have to force a post out.
Now, I'm not saying that I'm any expert in this field, or that this is an instant fix or, hell, that Helga's any more in character. But I do know that I was genuinely excited to RP in that thread, and that's the first step.
Fourth, post in here and Ari will give you more tips. (yes, you can pop in and ask for nothing but more tips. I'd be happy to oblige).
Granted: sometimes the answer is to drop them, but I do tend to believe that you picked them for a reason, and that we can find that reason again.
So this is for you to either ask ME questions or ask EACH OTHER questions. For you to work the kinks out.
You. Are. Welcome. ;]
EDIT: I'm ALWAYS up for watching HELLA Disney movies and analyzing characters of RPers who are having trouble. I will post my analysis here. Feel free to request this service.
