Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi was pretty much used to her new life.
Okay, so she still missed Genovia, and thinking about her country usually filled her with intense sorrow, because apparently it just never existed here. She was definitely in the United States, but it wasn't quite the same United States that she grew up in. This guy Disney had gone a little insane with these parks. There were several of them, one just a few hours from her old home in San Francisco. To think, it hadn't been there when she was in San Francisco, but according to the plaques that gave the history of Disneyland, it had been there since 1955.
She couldn't quite wrap her mind around it.
But nonetheless, she had to settle down in the parks. With Queen Elsa's help (the woman was a whiz at making clothes, in addition to her insane ice powers), Mia had sold her fancy gown. The money had allowed Mia to get a place in the parks--she'd chosen one of the cheaper hotels; even though she'd grown used to the opulence of the palace, she never forgot where she came from--and she'd quickly gotten a job as a lifeguard at one of the water parks.
One way Mia knew she could meet more people was a party. And with Halloween coming up, Mia knew exactly what she needed to do. Had she been home, she probably would've set up a small bash with scary movies. But here in the parks, she had a feeling she could do more, especially if she wanted to meet more people.
She worked things out with some of the cast members to set up the party near the Haunted Mansion. The party was supposed to have full access to the ride, though Mia knew she probably wouldn't get to go on it any time soon.
In the meantime, Mia managed to get her hands on a Catwoman costume: a tight-fitting black suit and a black masquerade mask that also had a cat-ear headband. She opted to leave out the pistols.
She put up fliers, starting two weeks before her party, letting people know it would be happening. With Elsa's permission, Mia added the other queen's name as a notable guest who would be attending. She hoped this would get more people to attend, though she wasn't sure how well that would work.
The day of the party, Mia waited a little anxiously for her guests to start arriving. Elsa had said she'd be there, just not when.
On one side of the plaza, Mia had the stereotypical Halloween gags. There were various figures (a zombie, a mummy, etc) for photographs, a table with "creepy" things hidden in bowls with lids (plain spaghetti noodles, gummy worms in crumbled cake, peeled grapes, dried chicken leg bones), a couple of barrels filled with water with a basket of apples nearby. Mia honestly thought it was the best party she'd organized by herself. The cast members had definitely been helpful in bringing it together, though, and she hadn't forgotten about them. One stood by the photo figures, one by the bobbing-for-apples, and two by the "creepy" foods.
The other side of the plaza had Halloween-themed foods. Chocolate chip cookies that looked like spiders were resting on top, cupcakes with orange or black frosting that had plastic rings, bowls of chips, a fountain flowing with fruit punch, and other food lined the table neatly. There were a few costumed cast members there, as well.
((btw, the first selection of foods I listed are not for eating (except the apples) and cast members will deny any who try. They're part of the game where you stick your hand in and try to guess what you're touching))
